1813

Anders W Gyzander founds Sjuntorps Spinneri AB

1907

The ball bearing turns out to be an excellent innovation, and Johansson & Carlander decide to start AB Svenska Kullagerfabriken.

1948

AB Sjuntorp expands with 1200 employees.

1982

The textile industry crisis is a fact and operations in Sjuntorp are decommissioned.

Today

AB Sjuntorp is back in the family’s ownership, with entrepreneur Thomas Mark as CEO and President.

1813

Anders W Gyzander is able to start a spinning mill and looks for a location where water can power his machinery. It seems the perfect place is next to the old grinding mill at Slumpån, Sjuntorp. Sjuntorps Spinneri AB is founded. The second cotton- and wool spinning mill in Sweden. Mid 19th century the business gains profitability and really starts to take off. In addition to the mill, there is also farming, forestry and trading posts.

1882

Trading company Johansson & Carlander takes over the business in Sjuntorp and starts AB Sjuntorp, which grows rapidly. Johannes Johansson changes his last name to Mark.

1891

Johansson & Carlander founds Gamelstadens Fabriker AB. Sven Wingqvist, who later invents the ball bearing, is hired.

1907

The ball bearing turns out to be an excellent innovation, and Johansson & Carlander decide to start AB Svenska Kullagerfabriken.

1926

Assar Gabrilesson and Gustaf Larsson start working for Sven Wingqvist. They travel to The States to sell bearings. They visit Ford automobiles and based on that experience they return home and start AB Volvo.

1937

Sven Wingqvist decides to spread his wings and starts SAAB in Trollhättan. While running SAAB, he is also the Chair of NOHAB.

1948

AB Sjuntorps expands during the 40ties and reaches a total of 1200 employees. The company is run by Ingvar and Halvar Mark. Ingvars son Åke mark stepps into the CEO position in the midst of the textile crisis in 1975.

1982

AB Sjuntorp, which has made a number of investments to emerge from the crisis, sells the company to Mikael Östlund AB, which will continue to run the company until 1986, when it decides to wind up.

IDAG

AB Sjuntorp is once again in the ownership of the Mark family. Thomas Mark runs the Sjuntorp Group consisting of: Sjuntorp Truck och Maskin, Sjuntorp Produktionsteknik, Elinc och Jopro.
